Inside Sales Representative

THE POSITION: Exapta is currently seeking a full-time Inside Sales Representative to support our Customer Service core competency. This is an on-site position, located in McPherson, KS. The primary function of this position is to grow customer reach. The perfect person for us is a high-energy person with a strong work ethic; great people skills and a drive to succeed; who has a proven track record in sales success and who is driven by meeting new people; providing great customer service and strives to close the deal. Our #1 priority is finding someone who aligns with our culture and our mission which is to provide better seeding tools for no-till seeding while providing innovative solutions to improve overall sustainability for generations.

The primary responsibilities will be working with the sales team; processing online and phone sales; greeting walk-in customers and assisting with pick-up orders; answering sales calls as well as distributing missed calls and voicemails; scheduling and working trade shows. This position is a very active role in communicating with farmers via phone, email and social media. 85% of your day consists of being on the phone: processing orders, tracking shipments and troubleshooting product installation. 15% is covering trade shows and traveling with a company vehicle. A background in farming or no-till is required. Experience working with planters and drills is an excellent qualification as Exapta sells wear parts for these implements.

QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent organizational and communication skills, that includes planning each week, each day, and each call with intention. Conscientiousness in following established administrative procedures, including maintenance of customer information sheets and files, weekly updates, and expense reports.

  • REQUIRED: Experience working with planters and drills as Exapta sells wear parts for these implements or equal farm implement experience.
  • Reaching out to potential leads through a variety of channels, such as email, phone, text, and social media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), Canva, and Constant Contact; Experience with Fishbowl Inventory Software and CRM software not required but a plus (We will train you!)
  • Overcome objections to obtain the sale while also providing customers with optimal customer service.
  • Follow the company standard for processing orders to ensure customers receive the products or services they request in a timely manner.
  • Participating in company meetings with the sales manager, other sales reps and the Exapta team. This will involve providing a recap of recent results and accomplishments to demonstrate progress.
  • Needs strong interpersonal skills with a mix of verbal communication and listening skills and can articulate and demonstrate how a product works and is installed.
  • Good presentation skills – this position requires attending trade shows and managing and performing product and service demos. Must be able to concisely explain the core functions and benefits to customers.
  • REQUIRED: 2-3 years of related sales or related experience with an agricultural background.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Work both independently and as a team. Follow company procedures and policies.
  • Travel is up to 15% of the year attending various farm meetings, educational meetings, farm visits and demos.

Job Type: Full-time, In-office position

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary depending on experience; additional percentage contributed to 401k retirement account, paid vacation, profit sharing. No Health Insurance.

Chris Horton

Chris Horton brings 25 years of management with him. He grew up on his grandparents farm in Reno County Kansas where they mainly grew wheat and cattle feed. He worked on feed lots as a pen rider and cow-calf operations before moving to Southern California where Chris started a new career in the transportation and transport logistics, eventually managing the western region for a large commercial vehicle leasing company. Chris moved home to Kansas, to manage a local Farmers Coop and then eventually the service dept for a tractor dealership. The opportunity to join the Exapta team came up, and he knew he wanted to be a part of this team.

Prior to joining Exapta, Bob Pagel was an Agricultural Territory Sales Manager for Ritchie Brothers, serving parts of MN, WI and IA. He continues to support his family farm in SE Minnesota.

Jon Zeller

Current Product Engineer

Jonathan Zeller joined Exapta excited to return to working with no-till planting equipment. He supported research of no-till planting and other ag related projects for 7 years with Kansas State University’s Agricultural Engineering Department after getting his engineering degree. He later worked 3 years for Landoll Company, LLC. where he gained experience in a design engineering role. Jonathan grew up on a small family farm in NE Kansas working with row crops, hay and cattle. Jonathan enjoys solving engineering problems and improving or creating products to be robust and easy to install and service.
