Exapta is currently seeking a full-time Current Product Engineer to help further improve our existing product line, assist with new development design projects, and support process improvements. Current catalog offerings include fabricated steel sheet and weldments, machined parts and castings, injection-molded plastics, etc.
This position reports to the R&D Manager, and is a work remote position, with occasional travel required to and from farms in the Midwest, as well as to our headquarters in McPherson, KS.
Your primary responsibility is to collaborate with the Exapta team to execute Engineering activities necessary to implement solutions for current product manufacturing, quality, performance or reliability issues and desired improvements.
Activities include 3d CAD design and drawing creation, load & stress calculations, root cause and predictive failure analysis. Additional responsibilities include implementation of internal quality control processes, as well as support of R&D projects. Draft project goals, priorities, and validation targets; document all phases of development; source prototype builds and organize product testing both in-house and on-farm.
All while keeping an eye on developing market conditions and trends within the no-till planting sector. We need someone who is eager to help improve farmers’ success with their no-till efforts, and get them the products and know-how to further that. The cool part of the job is getting to interact with some of the cutting-edge no-tillers from around the world, and continual learning as we improve the technology and knowledge for the most effective way to establish vigorous crops in no-till.
The right person for the job will be diligent, methodical, detail oriented, results driven, and able to work independently without close supervision. Enthusiasm for no-till planting equipment and the agricultural industry is required. Hands-on experience with planters/drills is preferred. We’re looking for someone who is honest, forthright, and a problem solver, with a creative mind, that can dive in and keeping various projects moving forward with a team first mentality. He or she will relish working with farmers to assist in deployment of effective techniques for profitable no-till cropping.
B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field is preferred, but not required. FEA experience is a plus. Those with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply. Proficiency with 3D CAD (Solidworks or Creo), Office 365, and Adobe is required.
