(1) Suggested for no-till when using T-wheels on original closing brackets.

(2) These are necessary to attach the T-wheels to JD 7000 & early Kinzes, since those planters used a ‘waterpump’ style of bearing (protruding shaft, held with a roll-pin) whereas all the T-wheels are bolt-on bearings.

(3) When ordering for 750 drills, we will need to know whether your drill's closing wheels are currently attached with a bolt (SN 101-3834) or slide over a spindle that is screwed into the arm. For the spindle-type we need to know if the left-hand side of the drill has L.H. threads (SN 6000 and above), or not (SN 3835-6020).

(4) On planters: Keetons or ‘seed-lock’ wheels are needed when running any type of spoked closing wheels, which don’t supply much (if any) seed-to-soil contact. On 750-style drills, many producers are reporting excellent results from using Case-NH’s firming wheel for the SDX (a 5/8 x 9-inch wheel - part number N306145A1). Any firming wheel that is narrower than the original (1-inch wide) on the 750, 60-, or 90-series drills will offer substantially better performance in firm no-till conditions.

If you are experiencing mud build-up inside the gauge wheels of your planter, check for wear in the gauge-wheel arm’s pivot point. A related problem is flexing of the opener blades—see the discussion in the Tech Tips for Planters & Guide to No-Till Seeding.
