IN THE FIELD WITH THE THOMPSON WHEEL

I planted corn recently in a thick ryegrass cover crop in wheat stubble using Exapta's Thompson closing wheels.
Below are a couple of photos of the heavy killed cover crop I planted into. Not the best pictures, but you can see there's no open slot.

Thompson wheels excel at closing the furrow by slicing and crumbling the sidewall. The photo shows their consistent closing action despite muddy conditions, heavy straw, and long-term no-till on silty clay loam soil. Very little spring pressure is being applied to the closing bracket.

Thompson wheel T4 and T4X versions fit JD 60- and 90-series drills, providing positive but gentle furrow closing even in sticky clays and heavy stubble.
